About the course
The vagus nerve is the primary component of the parasympathetic nervous system. It connects the brain directly to the heart, lungs, digestive system, and endocrine system, and plays a central role in regulating immune response, emotional state, hormonal balance, and the body's capacity for self-regulation.
This course teaches a structured neuro-reflexology protocol developed by Lone Sorensen for stimulating the vagus nerve through reflex areas and points on the face, scalp, ears, and feet. I am trained and certified by Lone Sorensen to teach this method, and I deliver it in Australia through the Australian School of Facial and Neuro Reflexology.
The course combines theoretical depth with direct practical application. You leave with protocols you can integrate into clinical work immediately.
What the course covers
The course gives a thorough account of the vagus nerve — its anatomy, its function, and the consequences of its dysfunction — and then builds directly into the practical stimulation techniques.
Anatomy and function
Origin and anatomical pathway of the vagus nerve. Its role in the parasympathetic nervous system and how it regulates heart rate, respiration, digestion, hormonal chemistry, and immune response.
Sympathetic and parasympathetic regulation
The relationship between the two branches of the autonomic nervous system and the vagus nerve's essential role in maintaining their balance.
Dysfunction and its systemic effects
How vagus nerve dysregulation affects every organ system in the body — including the brain, immune function, emotional states, mental health, trauma response, behaviour, hormones, and chemistry.
Stimulation protocols — Original Method Lone Sorensen
Specific reflex techniques for accessing the vagus nerve through microsystems on the face, scalp, cervical region, ears, and feet. Facial reflexology stimulation of nerve points connected to cervical and neurological pathways. Auricular reflex analysis and treatment. Foot reflexology stimulation of spinal pathways. Gut–brain reflex connection work.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course you will be familiar with:
The anatomy and origin of the vagus nerve
The function of the vagus nerve and its role in physical, emotional, and mental health
The sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems and how the vagus nerve regulates them
The causes of vagus nerve dysfunction
How dysfunction relates to all major systems in the body — organs, brain, immune system, emotions, behaviour, hormones, and trauma response
The specific reflex technique for stimulating the vagus nerve through facial, auricular, scalp, and foot microsystems
How to integrate these protocols into existing clinical practice
Who this course is for
The course is designed for therapists working professionally with the body — reflexologists, massage therapists, physiotherapists, psychotherapists, bodyworkers, and wellness practitioners. No prior knowledge of the vagus nerve or facial reflexology is required.
Certification
Participants who complete the course receive a certificate in Vagus Nerve Stimulation, Original Method Lone Sorensen. The course counts toward continuing education hours for eligible professional groups.
